SINGAPORE — Spanish state prosecutors have rejected a legal complaint filed against Peter Lim, the Singaporean billionaire owner of Spanish football club, Valencia CF.
The complaint was filed by the club’s former vice-president Miguel Zorio last month. It accused Lim, football agent Jorge Mendes and former club president Amadeo Salvo, of corruption.
The accusations include misappropriation of funds involving the purchase of players by the Spanish Primeira Liga club, unfair administration, corruption among individuals, and corporate crimes.
But according to Spanish media reports on today (Oct 29), the state prosecutors have thrown the case out of the window, after finding “insufficient grounds to proceed”.
Last month, Valencia had dismissed the accusations by Zorio, calling them “completely false” and “attempting to attract publicity through baseless accusations that seriously damage the image of Valencia CF and the reputation of those in charge of the club”.
When asked if Lim still intends to take legal action against Zorio for alleged defamation, Lim’s spokesman told TODAY: “We reserve our rights and will be taking advice from our lawyers.”
