Saiyidah’s oar-some display leads to historic SEA Games gold

NAYPYIDAW — Saiyidah Aisyah may be the only rower in the SIngapore contingent to the Myanmar South-east Asian Games, but the 25-year-old certainly made her presence count by delivering a historic gold for Singapore today (Dec 17).

Saiyidah became the first Singaporean to win an individual rowing title at the regional biennial Games when she sped past her opponents in the women’s 2,000m lightweight sculls.

She finished in 8min 08.94sec, almost two seconds ahead of nearest rival Maryam Makdalena Daimoi (8:10.47) of Indonesia.
