SEA Games: One silver and two bronze for Singapore Silat

SINGAPORE — The Republic’s pencak silat team kicked off their SEA Games campaign at the Singapore Expo today with two bronzes and one silver.
The Singapore women’s regu team comprising Nurul Khairunnisa, Nur Fazlin Juma’en and Nur Shafiqa Sheik Alau’ddin finished with a score of 461 to grab silver while Indonesia won the event with a score of 466. Vietnam had finished with the same points as Singapore but the overall decision was given to Singapore due to the technical points.
The bronze medals went to Singapore’s Muhammad Iqbal Abdul Rahman in the men’s singles tunggal and Shakir Juanda and Sheik Ferdous in the men’s ganda doubles.
Vietnam’s Quang Trung Hoang won the singles event with a score of 464 while the silver went to Sugianto of Indonesia. Sugianto had scored 464 as well but lost out to overall judging criteria. For the men's doubles, Indonesia's Hendy and Yolla Primadona edged Vietnam's Quoc Ban Dang and Dan Phuong Nguyen by one point to win the gold.
The next medal events will take place on June 13.
