Shinta, Yao settle for women’s doubles bronze

NAYPYIDAW — Singapore’s Shinta Mulia and Yao Lei may not have made it to the final of the SEA Games badminton women’s doubles. However, the bronze medal that they won by virtue of reaching the semi-finals have at least ensured that the national team will not be returning home empty-handed.

NAYPYIDAW — Singapore’s Shinta Mulia and Yao Lei may not have made it to the final of the SEA Games badminton women’s doubles. However, the bronze medal that they won by virtue of reaching the semi-finals have at least ensured that the national team will not be returning home empty-handed.

The world No 16 duo lost 21-23, 21-17, 17-21 to Malaysia’s Vivian Kah and Khe Wei Woon (world No 18) today (Dec 13) to finish bronze-medallists for the second Games running.

They had also finished joint-third at the 2011 Games in Palembang.

Singapore had won a gold and four bronzes at the 2011 Games.
