Singapore win bronzes in silat, badminton

NAYPYIDAW — Singapore’s women’s badminton double pair of Yao Lei and Shinta Mulia Sari have secured themselves a bronze at the least at the SEA Games in Myanmar, after the duo defeated Indonesia’s Imawan Gebby Ristiyano and Nuraidah Tiara Rosalia 21-16, 20-22, 26-24 in the quarter-finals.

Even if they lose in the semi-finals, Yao and Shinta are assured of the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Singapore’s silat world champion Shakir Juanda was beaten 0-5 by Vietnam’s Le Si Kien in the semi-finals of the Match Class H.

His loss means that he and the other losing semi-finalist have finished joint-third.
