We refer to the letter by Mr Desmond Loi Chin Wee ("Was LRT cabin design a factor in my mother's accident?"; Nov 18).

We are sorry to hear of Mr Loi's mother's injuries and hope that she is feeling better.

We have carried out a thorough check into the incident.

A staff member on duty on the platform had noted that Mr Loi’s mother was about to enter the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) train when she suddenly lost her footing.

Closed-circuit television camera footage that we reviewed also showed that she was walking quite quickly towards the opened train doors, lost her balance on the boarding platform and fell forward onto the floor of the LRT train.

Our staff member quickly alerted our operations control centre and a team was dispatched to attend to her. She was later helped onto a wheelchair before the ambulance arrived.

We have been in touch with Mr Loi, and wish his mother a speedy and full recovery.
