The Court of Appeal's ruling on Thursday (Feb 1), where six former City Harvest Church leaders convicted of misappropriation of church funds will not have to spend additional time behind bars, marks the end of a saga for which investigations began in 2010 and the trial started in 2013. In the wake of the apex court’s decision to uphold the reduced sentences of six former CHC leaders, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam said he will deliver a ministerial statement in Parliament — which sits next week — on what he described as a “serious matter”.
