Stephanie Ow was born blind but that has not stopped her from playing the erhu with the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra. Her uncle, a fan of Cantonese opera, helped to pay for her music lessons but had to give up on his own classes as they could not afford it. Stephanie received S$3,000 from the TODAY Enable Fund, which helped her to buy a laptop and a new screen reader for school and to foot her transportation costs to and from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where she is studying music.
