SINGAPORE — The video showing the dramatic rescue of a woman and her toddler after her car went into a canal in Amsterdam has been making its rounds on the Internet.

It was reported that the woman, the driver, had parked her white car by Amsterdam's Schinkel River. The car started to move towards the canal with the toddler inside when she walked out of the vehicle.

Local media reported that the woman then tried to get her child out, but the car sank into the canal with both of them inside.

Four people first dived in to try to help. When they could not break the rear window with a stone, one of them retrieved a hammer from his own car, according to local reports.

The mother and child were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but are said to be recovering well.
